Grihapravesh

Grihapravesh denotes an important event and a customary Hindu practice done on a new house after acquiring it. This puja helps in cleaning the house, cleansing the environment and also all the space so that the new house is filled with love, happiness and abundance.

Procedure

The first step is choosing the most appropriate day and time to begin the ceremony. Among other rites, the sage offers include but are not limited to, the lighting of the sacred fire, vocative mantras and sacrificial shrines to worship. Occasionally, the guests have some items that were consecrated at the time of pooja and these include fruits, grains and flowers. As a rite of passage, all the family members go through the door that was previously closed and this signifies the start of a new phase of their lives.
